Hello, dear fellow human!
I’m Kathrin Woo, a self-employed, licensed Surface Pattern Designer based in Berlin. In 2018, I turned my love for creating into a professional design practice.
Before fully stepping into design, I worked in retail, graduated from Humboldt University Berlin (Northern European Studies), and taught German as a foreign language at the Goethe Institute — both in Berlin and in my second home, South Korea.
I live with my husband and our two children who are my biggest source of inspiration and daily joy.
What I do
I create witty, sweet, and uplifting artwork designed to bring more joy into everyday life.
My work includes:
- Ready-to-license surface patterns
- Playful illustrations
- Expressive lettering
All created to be both eye-catching and commercially versatile.
Approach & Style
Each of my designs begins with hand-drawn motifs, which I transform into vector artwork and carefully arrange into seamless repeat patterns. The finished designs preserve the character of the handmade process. No AI is used in my creative process.
My style is playful, modern, and lightly humorous, with a touch of charm — designed for children and the young at heart. Whether used on fabric, stationery, home décor, or packaging, I aim to create designs that:
- Spark emotion
- Stand out visually
- Work beautifully in real-world products
Values
Sustainability and mindful living are at the core of my work.
My family and I live consciously and environmentally aware, and these values naturally shape my creative process and business decisions. For me, thoughtful design and responsible choices go hand in hand.
If you’re interested in collaborating or have any questions about licensing my designs, feel free to get in touch — I’m always happy to help.
